One notable effect of the COVID-19 pandemic was how immediately the spaces we occupy changed in March 2020. The CoSA Dance studios morphed into living rooms, driveways, and rooftops around the county as dancers took daily classes and devised ways to create and collaborate on Zoom. Now that we are preparing to emerge from our COVID cocoons, our sense of space is changing again. The students and faculty in CoSA’s Conservatory of Classical and Contemporary Dance are taking advantage of this unique opportunity to reflect on the spaces we occupy, the spaces we wish we could occupy, and how our feelings of togetherness and separation are wrapped up in our perception of space. On December 10-13, CoSA Dance will present The Space Between Us, featuring five original faculty dances and five original student dances filmed in various locations around town. The digital dance concert is directed by conservatory chair, Gina Bolles Sorensen.
