The theme for this show is going to be “Salon Art”; the description of the event is still coming along, but the idea is this: To show at a salon, a young artist had to be received by the Academie by first submitting an artwork to the jury. With such judgment and critique placed on artists today, the goal of the show is to feature a variety of artwork having to do with the past, present, a future of Art. In style, media, and concept, I want artists to feel free to show how they define art. Salon Art was a gathering intended to refine taste and increase knowledge of the participants through conversation. That is why this event will be about the purpose of art "either to please or to educate" (Horace).

Keep in mind that the gallery is unlike most galleries you’re accustomed to since the space is an eclectic and distinct environment to display your art. The unusual shape and size of the gallery lends itself for viewership. Our objective is to encourage up and coming artists to take advantage of the space, build relationships with other artists, and have the opportunity to share your work with the public in such a way that our first exhibit demonstrated.
That said the next exhibit is open to different media, scale, and concept as long as the art piece complies with the theme of the show. You may submit as many pieces as you’d like, since Salon Art is just as much about quantity as it is about quality.
When submitting your work, please include the following:
(1) Quality Photograph of Work
(2) Title, Dimensions, Medium, Price
(3) Short Biography and Artist Statement
(4) Contact Information and Artist website
Also, please say if it is all right if your artwork is featured on the Undiscovered Gallery Facebook page and utilized for advertisement purposes.
Work will be reviewed and you will be notified as soon as possible. Please note that the drop-off date for artists chosen to show will be on April 21st, 2012 between 10:00am and 12:00pm. You may drop-off your work earlier if necessary or ship your work in earlier, but later than that is not possible due to the installation process.
The artwork exhibited will be displayed for approximately three months. Chosen artists are required to pay a $20 hanging fee, and will be expected to be present at the opening as well as bring as many friends and family members as possible! The more the merrier!
Please take a look at the attachments below; it includes the Prospectus and Artist Exhibit and Liability Agreement. (If you contact me, I can email these forms to you.)
Bonus: Each month, Coronado holds its OPEN GALLERY NIGHT. The Undiscovered Gallery teams up with the Dan McGeorge Gallery, Coronado Plaza, as well as Art & Frames by Wood, to create a night dedicated to the art community. Not only are there painting demonstrations at one of the galleries, but there is also a reception hosted on the outdoor patio with music and refreshments by the Undiscovered Gallery Executive Suites.
So, if you’re interested get on those submissions! Looking forward to hearing from the inspiring artists the world has to offer. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thank you!
