
For the National Trust of Preservation’s annual Preservation Month, the Coronado Historical Association has invited State Historic Preservation Office Wayne Donaldson to speak on “Coronado and Historic Preservation in the Next Decade.” This free lecture has been generously supported by donors in honor of Nancye Splinter, former Board of Director for CHA and active in the historical preservation of Coronado. His presentation will be given on Friday, May 20, at 7 p.m., in the Lecture Hall of the Coronado Museum of History and Art. In May 2010, President Barack Obama selected California State Historic Preservation Officer M. Wayne Donaldson, FAIA, to serve a four year term as the next chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Mr. Donaldson has been an architect since 1978, specializing in historic preservation services. He is licensed to practice in California, Nevada and Arizona and holds a certified license from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Mr. Donaldson is affiliated with several historical and preservation organizations and is a past president of the California Preservation Foundation (CPF) and past chairs of the State Historical Building Safety Board, the State Historical Resources Commission, and the Historic State Capitol Commission.
Mr. Donaldson holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He engaged in post graduate studies at Uppsala University, Sweden, and received a Master of Science degree in Architecture from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, and a Master of Arts degree in Public History and Teaching from University of San Diego.
