Optimist Club's 41st Sports Fiesta Kicks Off Saturday

The service group hosts its annual sports extravaganza Saturday and Sunday, and even if you haven't registered there are openings. 

Saturday features the 7 a.m. 10K run, which stretches from Sunset Park onto North Island Naval Air Station, and the 11 a.m. rough water swim.

Sunday's triathlon starts at 7:30 a.m. The swim and run are on North Beach, while the biking will take place on the base.

Diving also takes place Sunday at the beginning at 9 a.m.

If you procrastinated, organizers will accept registration the day of the races - on Saturday by 6:45 a.m. and Sunday by 7:15 a.m. 

The events are free to view, but for entry fees are required for competitors.
