Free Fun on the Prowl at the Community Center
The last two Wednesday summer shows will feature exotic animals and magic.
The Coronado Community Center is offering visitors the chance to see wild animals up-close-and-personal Wednesday.
Throughout the summer the center has been . This is the fourth year the community center has offered the program, though it has been cut back this season for budget reasons.
“We just want to give kids a place to have free entertainment over the summer,” Recreation Specialist Sandi Ybarra said.

The Wild Wonders animal show and a magic show performed by John Abrams on Aug. 10 will be the last two of the free events this summer.
Past performances included Hullabaloo, a country-rock duo that performs cover songs, and Jr. Crew, which featured a drum and percussion concert on trash cans and other objects.

Recreation Program Supervisor Stacy Berman said in the past the community center had more funding for the program, but this year they had to economize by hosting fewer shows.
The shows have remained popular for families and summer campers. The Jr. Crew show last month attracted about 250 people, Berman estimated.
“So it’s pretty popular in the community,” she said.
Make sure to also bring a bathing suit and a sack lunch: Attendees are invited to use the center's pool after the show.
