Islanders Move to 3-1 with 49-0 Rout of Rock Academy

Quarterback Austin Denson ran for touchdowns of 4 and 27 yards and also threw an 18-yard scoring strike to Mike Byrne as the Coronado High football team improved to 3-1 with a 49-0 rout of winless Rock Academy at Niedermeyer Field on Friday night.

The Islanders led 28-0 after one quarter and 42-0 at the half. Mason Copp had two rushing touchdowns and Jake Shepherd added another, Paul Rodriguez returned a punt 42 yards for a score and kicker Robby Weisenfels converted all seven extra-point placement kicks.

Coronado hosts University City next Friday at 7 p.m. as Central League play gets under way.
