Islanders Run Away With 55-20 Win in Home Opener
Coach Tony Isabella gets to substitute often as Coronado easily outdistances Canadian opponent.
The switch from a planned night game to an afternoon home opener didn't slow down the Coronado High football team on Friday. To save power after Thursday's blackout in the area, the Islanders moved up their game to avoid using the lights at Neidermeyer Field.
Still, Coronado lit up the scoreboard, easily moving their record to 2-0 on the young season with a 55-20 win over Canadian opponent Ross Sheppard High of Edmonton.
The Islanders ran away to a 48-13 halftime advantage and first-year head coach Tony Isabella was able to get a look at everyone on his roster, with the fourth quarter played with a running game clock.
