Minimum-Day Schedules Continue Tuesday For Coronado Schools
Students in Coronado Unified School District will be sent home early Tuesday because of the heat wave.

CORONADO, CA – With the fall heat wave continuing to wash over the San Diego region, schools in Coronado Unified School District will be on minimum-day schedules again Tuesday, the district announced Monday.
School days for students at Coronado High School, Coronado Middle School, Palm Academy, Strand Elementary and Village Elementary will end at 12:30 p.m.
"The governing board allows the superintendent to make this declaration based upon the knowledge that many of the CUSD classrooms are not air-conditioned and occasionally suffer from extreme and unhealthy temperatures," Superintendent Karl Mueller said in a statement on the district website. "My decision of a Heat Release Day hinges on information provided by reputable forecasts consisting of a temperature or heat index of 90 degrees or higher."
