Pier Dredging at Naval Base Coronado Prompts Noise Advisory

The work is expected to take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.

CORONADO, CA: Noise and light from maintenance dredging work starting this week around the piers at Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado may disturb area residents, base officials said Monday.

Navy crews are scheduled to begin dredging the area from the fuel pier to Pier 21 at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The work is expected to take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day through May 10, according to Naval Base Coronado.

Navy officials said the work would involve several vessels, and crews would use localized lighting to illuminate the work zone and to assist in monitoring for green sea turtles and marine mammals.
