Power Outage Strikes San Diego Area
Thousands of homes and businesses were without electrical service.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY -- Power outages left thousands of homes and businesses without electrical service across the central San Diego and North County areas the morning of Nov. 30.
The first blackout occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m., initially affecting about 2,330 addresses in Balboa Park, Golden Hill, Lincoln Park, Logan Heights, Mountain View, Naval Base San Diego, Naval Air Station North Island and Tijuana River Park, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.
Crews had service restored to all the affected communities by late morning, the utility company reported.

A second outage took place shortly after 8:30 a.m. and briefly knocked out power to roughly 4,300 addresses at Camp Pendleton and in the Ocean Hills, Oceanside, and San Luis Rey areas.
As of 11 a.m., power had been restored to all but two dozen of those customers, according to SDG&E, which estimated that the remainder would be back online by early afternoon.

The causes of both blackouts were under investigation, the utility said.
