New building replaces the Senior Center that stood at 1019 Seventh Street for decades.

CORONADO, CA -- Plans are underway to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the John D. Spreckels Center and Bowling Green on Thursday, Dec. 8. The ceremony is set for 3 p.m. at the site, 1019 Seventh St., Coronado.
The new 9,000 square foot Spreckels Center and Bowling Green is replacing the senior citizens center that stood at 1019 Seventh St. for decades. The new 9,000-square-foot building features a multipurpose room, activity room, service kitchen, office space, lounge, lawn bowling club room, and restroom which will expand the opportunities for recreation and enrichment for citizens of Coronado.
Ground was broken on the facility in January , and construction continued through the summer and fall, with a significant portion of the funding for this project coming from the Frances Harpst Trust.
