Search Continues for Inmate Who Escaped from San Diego County Jail Facility
Breaking: Demetrius B. Robertson, 24, who also goes by Demetrius Roberson, was discovered missing Sunday evening from his Otay Mesa cell.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities asked the public Monday to be on the lookout for an inmate who escaped from a San Diego County jail facility in the 400 block of Alta Road in Otay Mesa.
Demetrius B. Robertson, 24, who also goes by Demetrius Roberson, was discovered missing from his cell at Facility Eight, a medium security facility next to George Bailey Detention Facility, during a head count just before 7 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Robertson is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and a baseball cap, and is known to frequent the communities of Chula Vista, College Grove and Chollas View. Anyone who sees Robertson should not approach him, but call 911.

Sheriff's officials said that as soon as Robertson was discovered missing from Facility Eight — where inmates classified as "low-medium security" are housed — the facility as well as neighboring George Bailey were placed on lockdown while another head count and a search of all cells was conducted.
Authorities have been searching for Robertson ever since.

A checkpoint was set up to search cars driving out of the area, and deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation, Sheriff’s ASTREA (helicopter), sheriff's K-9 unit, Border Patrol agents and their helicopter searched from the air and the ground overnight.
The San Diego County Fugitive Task Force was also mobilized to search areas Robertson has frequented in the past, but has not located him.
According to authorities, Robertson was behind bars since May for an alleged parole violation.
Anyone with information on Robertson’s whereabouts was urged to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
