Television Personalities To Ride In Coronado Christmas Parade

KUSI TV's Brandi Williams and Leslie Lopez Ride as Guests of Coronado Brewing Company

The Coronado Christmas Parade and Holiday Open House is scheduled for the first Friday in December. This year’s parade will have two celebrity guests - KUSI TV’s morning news anchor Brandi Williams, and reporter and weather anchor Leslie Lopez. The ladies will ride in the Coronado Brewing Company’s Model T beer truck.

“This is my third Coronado parade,” said Williams, “and I couldn’t be more excited. This year I’m bringing my good friend Leslie Lopez along and we are thrilled to be a part of the Coronado Brewing Company’s parade entry.”

Williams and Lopez spend considerable time in Coronado, both covering the news and enjoying their free time. The two popular news personalities bring a special, celebrity sparkle to the parade that the crowd seems to enjoy. Last year Williams was swamped by well-wishers of all ages as she made her way along the parade route.

Leslie Lopez is the morning weather anchor for Good Morning San Diego. She teamed up with KUSI in May of 2011 as a reporter and meteorologist. In her spare time she enjoys gardening drought-tolerant plants, reading, writing children's books, playing indoor soccer, hiking, exploring new restaurants and surfing.

Brandi Williams hosted her own Realty TV shows and covered the Red Carpet for three years as Entertainment Editor for TV Guide before coming to San Diego. She too, has been at KUSI for two years, and recently took over as co-anchor of the weekday Good Morning San Diego news show, along with Dave Davis. Her interests lean towards dancing, skateboarding and supporting her many causes and charities. She is particularly supportive of creating a better life for animals.

The 38th Annual Coronado Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade & Holiday Open House takes place Friday, December 6. The parade begins at 6 p.m. near the Coronado Public Library and goes down Orange Avenue to the Hotel del Coronado (R.H. Dana Place) before turning around and heading back the other way.

At the end of the parade the Mayor and Santa Claus arrive on the Fire Department’s hook ‘n’ ladder truck for the traditional tree lighting. Once the Mayor lights the tree at Rotary Plaza, Orange Avenue is taken over by revelers enjoying the first night of Coronado’s holiday shopping season. All along Orange Avenue shops and restaurants will offer food, drinks, and pictures with Santa.

The two KUSI newscasters will be at the Coronado Brewing Company the day of the parade from 4-5 p.m. meeting and greeting, and helping decorate the beer truck. The Coronado Brewing Company is located at 170 Orange Avenue. For more information on the Coronado Brewing Company visit their website at www.coronadobrewingcompany.com.
