Unhealthy Water Advisory Issued for Coronado Tidelands Park Shoreline
BREAKING: Current bacteria levels in the water exceed health standards, officials said.
CORONADO, CA — An unhealthy level of bacteria prompted the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health to issue an advisory Thursday afternoon for Tidelands Park on the San Diego Bay in Coronado.
White signs are posted at the location advising people to avoid water contact in the area.
"Bacterial exceedance advisories are issued when monitoring (laboratory analysis) reveals ocean or bay water quality does not meet State health standards due to high bacterial levels," according to the DEH.

Tidelands Park is among the beaches and shorelines sampled weekly for water quality between April 1 and Oct. 31. Good water quality is largely dependent on successful tidal flushing events, according to the county agency.

The same advisory was issued Thursday for Fanuel Park shorelines on Mission Bay. It was not clear how long either advisory would be in effect.
