Unleash Your Inner Rock Star at 3-Day 'Ladies Rock SD' Camp

SAN DIEGO, CA – Ladies Rock San Diego, "a rock empowerment camp for women," 18 and older, returns to the San Diego area from March 22 through March 24, with 30 spots available and sign-ups are underway.

Proceeds from the three-day event support Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls San Diego, a nonprofit that endeavors to empower girls through music. And the women's weekend culminates with a live performance, open to the community, family and friends, at the Voodoo Room at House of Blues, San Diego.

“We are so excited to bring back Ladies Rock San Diego for a second year! The first year was such a success that we’ve increased participants from 17 to 30 and even have participants coming from out of state to participate,” said Melissa Grove, founder and president of Ladies Rock San Diego and Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls San Diego.

“We’re happy that we can provide a space that encourages women to step out of their comfort zones and express themselves through music, all while having fun and supporting the girls at Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls San Diego!”

At the weekend program, participants form a band, learn an instrument, write an original song, have a photoshoot and then perform live on March 24. They also will have opportunities to attend empowerment assemblies and workshops covering a wide range of topics including guided meditation and self-defense.

The camp will be Friday, March 22 from 2 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at A.R.T.S., 200 East 12th Street, National City. Tuition is $275. Those interested are advised to register as soon as possible as spots fill up fast.

The showcase will take place on Sunday, March 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Voodoo Room at House of Blues. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10. The event is open to the public and all ages.
