• Artist Meet-Up with CAF @ AFURI (culvercitycrossroads.com) — Culver City artists are invited to a relaxed meetup at AFURI Culver City on Monday, Aug. 31, from 6–8 p.m. at 9300 Culver Blvd. Hosted by Culver Arts, the evening encourages creatives to network, share ideas, and spark new projects, with attendees purchasing their own food and drinks and parking available at the Culver Steps.
   

• Batteries Replace Generators: CPA Innovation Fund Supports City's Environmental Goals (culvercitycrossroads.com) — Culver City is rolling out a Portable Battery Program to replace gas generators at local events like the farmers' market and Movies in the Park, cutting emissions and noise. Funded by $164,000 from Clean Power Alliance's Innovation Fund, the pilot has already reduced 13,000 pounds of carbon and could lead to broader limits on gas generators citywide.
   

• Triple murderer suspected of killing cellmate in Lancaster (avpress.com) — A man serving life without parole for killing his father and two others after a violent rampage that began at a Culver City home is now suspected of killing his cellmate in a Lancaster state prison. Officials say the inmate, already convicted for the 2017 Culver City and Lennox shootings, was removed from the cell while investigators probe the new death. The case may reopen painful memories for local residents who remember the earlier crimes.
