Six years ago, I was leaving Trader Joe’s when I saw two seniors arguing over a taxi. It seemed they had both been waiting for quite some time and they each felt it was their ride home. A few days later, I was still thinking about it and wondering why they had to wait so long. I did a little research and learned that for seniors who give up their keys, there aren’t a lot of options.
I was at a point in my career where I was looking for a change, so I thought, why not create a transportation service for seniors? Easier said than done! After a year of research and planning and an abundance of support from my husband and family, I embarked on a new adventure and launched TLC Senior Ride.
Five years in, I can say that I have learned a lot about the senior community. I have seen first-hand the challenges they face, as well as their children, who step up as caregivers and try to find the best solutions to help their parents continue to live independently.
