Tech Giant Apple Coming To Culver City

The Cupertino, Calif.-based company will lease 128,000 square feet of office and retail space spread across four stories.

CULVER CITY, CA – Tech giant Apple, from Cupertino, Calif., will lease an entire building at 8777 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, near the fashionable art gallery district, Culver City officials said. The building is owned by mega-developer Lincoln Property Co. and features 128,000 square feet of office and retail space spread across four stories, people familiar with the plans told Los Angeles Times.

HBO had once planned to lease the site located at Washington and National boulevards near Culver City’s Metro Expo Line station.

“Culver City is looking forward to Apple growing its operations in our community,” Culver City Mayor Jeffrey Cooper said in a statement. Cooper said the Apple facility will “enhance the city’s already robust creative economy,” after citing century-old ties to the movie industry,

Apple will use the space to build out its original content business, Los Angeles Times reported, which has been gaining steam in recent months. Apple has been looking into making its name in the digital streaming market, to compete against companies like Netflix and Hulu.
