CityTypes: The Jewelry Maker

Using rocks from trade shows and silver from old candlesticks and silverware, Lukert decorates a neckline with unique style.

Metalsmith and Enamelist Lynne Lukert fashioned her first piece in 1971--a gold ring in a course at Venice High School.  It cost her $20 for the pennyweight.

Lukert's mother was an antique jewelry collector, and so it was only natural for her to develop her own personalized collection of neckline decor.  Using rocks from gem shows and metals from old candlesticks and silverware, Lukert sells her interesting items at Ten Women Venice.  

"I always wanted to create pretty jewelry," she said.
