Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 3. Remember to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms as you change your clocks. The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. To find out how old a smoke alarm is, look at the date of manufacture on the back of the alarm. If you need to replace your smoke alarms, the City of Culver City offers a FREE Smoke Alarm Program. Call the Community Risk Reduction Division at (310) 253-5925 to learn more.
Visit the NFPA website to learn more about installing and maintaining your smoke alarms and review this smoke alarm safety sheet for some quick tips.
