LA Doctors Symphony and young pianists in concert

The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra, one the nation's oldest community orchestras with roots in the medical professions, will again join forces with the Westside Music Foundation to present six young winners of the 2011 Robert Turner Piano competition.

The competitions winners will appear in concert with the orchestra on Sunday March 6 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Culver City.

Richard Strauss: Suite for Winds, Opus # 4, J.S. Bach: Concerto in F minor,  BWV 1056 and Ludwig Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, opus 37.

Unique among piano competitions in Southern California, the Robert Turner competition gives its young soloists the opportunity to play a major concerto with a well-respected local orchestra. Three soloists divide each concerto among them, taking one movement each.

ON MARCH 6, the three JUNIOR WINNERS (under 13) performing the Bach F Minor concerto on are Kevin Bao, Elizabeth Johnston and Mike Bao. The three SENIOR WINNERS (under 18) performing the Beethoven are Evan, Allison, and Lily Choi
