Family Attacked Outside Culver City Store, Suspects At Large: Police

CULVER CITY, CA — Police are searching for a group of suspects after a man was critically injured and a woman was robbed during an assault Monday afternoon in Culver City, authorities said.

Officers responded at about 4:39 p.m. Monday to a retail location at 6000 Sepulveda Blvd. after receiving reports of a group of juveniles harassing patrons, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Moments later, officers were told members of the same group were assaulting a man, police said.

The address corresponds to the Westfield Culver City mall.

Officers arrived and found an adult man suffering from significant injuries. Culver City Fire Department personnel took him to a hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators said the man was with his girlfriend and their two young children when the attack occurred.

During the assault, suspects forcibly took jewelry from the woman, causing injuries, police said. She and both children were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Police described the five or six male suspects as being between 16 and 20 years old and wearing dark clothing. They were last seen fleeing toward Slauson Avenue and Hannum Drive.

Detectives are working to identify those involved.
