I'm Retired-Now What?
We all aspire to retire, but what to do with all that time? Here are some ideas...
I was one of the earlier retirees among my peers, and I must say, retirement was a little more difficult than I had imagined. We all aspire to retire, but many of us don’t know what to do once that moment comes.
I tell my friends, if you are planning on retiring, it helps to have a game plan. Many of us, myself included, become a dangling participle as we attempt to navigate all the time that we have once we have retired.
I flirted with dog walking, pet portraits, and a few other oddities, before I decided to simply pursue the things that I love to do. Much of my time is spent volunteering at the Culver City Senior Center. If you’ve never visited, you owe it to yourself to check out the multitude of classes available and the numerous volunteer opportunities they have.

If you’ve retired, you need to find out what really makes you happy. Perhaps you wanted to pursue a career in the theater. Maybe you have a longing to give back to your community. Reading magazines all day? Why not? Perhaps traveling the globe is something that you finally have time to do.
The time that we have on this planet is relatively short. If you are retired or considering retiring, make the most of your free time by finding the things that give you joy. I’ve been retired for about three 13 years, and I try to take pleasure in every day. It sure beats worrying about corporate politics, and making my monthly sales quota.
