Le Studio: 'The Circus is Just a Backdrop'
Remember Nathalie Gaulthier and her aerial arts studio? See her students perform for Patch in an exclusive video.
Since its inception in 1984, LE STUDIO has been renowned for its empowering Cirque-theatre program. Owner Nathalie Yves Gaulthier uses circus arts to heal and build confidence with kids and adults, and said she has seen many life changing experiences through her program. "Kids come in here with their arms folded, closed off, guarding themselves and we teach them to open up."
LE STUDIO is the only facility that offers training and performances in aerial- cirque musical theater-- "A full on musical, with singing, in the air"--as Gaulthier puts it. Nothing seems impossible for Gaulthier, whose next project includes an aerial cirque show with the blind.
"I need to be the place where people feel they have a home, " Gaulthier said. "A place where ... 'I feel loved, I feel secure, I feel I can be who I really am.' That's what I want it to be--the circus is just a backdrop."
