Let Me Tell You a Story

Seniors shine the most when they get to tell the stories they cherish forever in their hearts.

The family photo album is a great place to start with a senior citizen who seems down and out. If you think about it, who really talks about the people in their photo albums unless you ask them? There’s a myriad of stories behind every picture, every face, and if given the chance, any elderly person would be glad to tell you share about their life. Focus on the ones that they want to tell you, and let them happily recount their stories. If you notice any old record albums, especially vinyl LP records, play their favorite music for them. Music is sure to stir up great memories.

A companion, caregiver, or certified nurse aide who knows how to draw out the best in your elderly loved one will greatly benefit their emotional health and, ultimately, their physical health. Happy seniors heal faster, and if they can gain a friend that they confide in, then you have a win-win situation! You get the extra help you need so you can take care of your responsibilities, and your elderly loved one gets the help he or she needs.
