National Hispanic Heritage Month Highlights Successful Businesses Like Savvy Travelers
To celebrate and recognize the cultures and traditions of the Hispanic community, September 15 – October 15, 2015 is Hispanic Heritage Month
According to the United States Census, there are approximately 54 million Hispanics living in the United States, representing approximately 17 percent of the total United States population. To celebrate and recognize the cultures and traditions of the Hispanic community, September 15 – October 15, 2015 is Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. Successful Latina entrepreneurs Tina Aldatz and Margarita Floris of Savvy Travelers are a prime example of just how successful Hispanic entrepreneurs can be in this country.
“National Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the roots that brought us to where we are today as a culture and a community,” affirms Tina Aldatz, chief executive officer of Savvy Travelers. “However, it also allows us as a nation to recognize the fellow leaders of the Hispanic community that are making a difference.”
The US Census Bureau states that National Hispanic Heritage Week, which would later be expanded to a full month, began in 1968 when President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed the celebration of the culture and traditions that trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Savvy Travelers, owned by best friends Tina Aldatz and Margie Floris, is an Hispanic-owned business. They are self-made, female entrepreneurs with a “I can” attitude. The yin/yang duo has taken the fashion industry by storm with the success of Foot Petals and they now set out to grow more by providing a much-needed product in the travel wellness sector. “What makes us work is we both know and respect each others strengths. We divide and conquer and are not afraid to bring in the experts to help us. It’s ok to ask for help,” states president of Savvy Travelers, Margie Floris.
The Savvy Travelers success has grown in a short time, evolving to include a recent autobiographical book release by Aldatz about how to succeed in business: “From Stilettos to the Stock Exchange.” Aldatz is also Chairwoman of Hispanic 100’s highly regarded Mentorship Program, which helps goal orientated young Latinos (18-25) become successful in business and civic engagement through mentored relationships with successful Hispanic professionals. These savvy entrepreneurs always find a way to pay it forward.

To be and stay successful, Tina Aldatz offers several tips for future entrepreneurs in her autobiography, “From Stilettos to the Stock Exchange,” such as:
• How to write a sales driven business plan
• How to be self-made and self-taught successful entrepreneur
• How to ask for help – the power of resourcefulness
To succeed in business, Tina Aldatz recommends the following three rules to follow daily:
· Understand Risks and Rewards. Analyze the consequences of actions, especially long-term repercussions which can severely impact your business. A good method of analyzing is asking what the worst-case scenario could be before making a decision.
· Stay Focused. Success does not happen overnight. Stay consistent, look at the short-term goals and eventually the rest will fall into place. Don’t give up if you are not an overnight success story.
· Be Creative. Making your business unique is the most important factor to stand out from other competition. Constantly bring in new ideas or add new practices to your business to find the best way to work.
“The important part is to encourage future children to remember and respect the Hispanic traditions that made us who we are today,” affirms Aldatz. “By mentoring children, we can continue our traditions and encourage success for the next generation.”
