South Bay Street Closes for 3 Months as SoCalGas Replaces Major Pipeline

INGLEWOOD, CA -- Traffic on Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood will be displaced as the Southern California Gas Co. replaces a major pipeline, the company announced Thursday.

About 1.1 miles of transmission pipeline will be replaced on Crenshaw, as the company works on a multi-billion dollar program to test and upgrade transmission lines for natural gas across the Southland.

Work will start Monday -- weather permitting -- on Crenshaw at 104th Street. Crews will work south, towards 111th Place, and two of the three northbound lanes will be closed daytime weekdays.

In addition, work must be done beneath Crenshaw at 118th Place. That project is right next to the Crenshaw interchange with the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, and it will mean closure of the westbound 105 exit from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in a few weeks, a spokeswoman said.

The project will take a little more than three months to complete, a SoCalGas spokeswoman said.
