Student Arrested After Allegedly Bringing BB Gun To School

A social media post allegedly showed the 17-year-old boy with a BB gun at Culver City High School.

CULVER CITY, CA — A student was arrested Thursday for bringing a BB gun to the Culver City High School campus.

Police and school staff became aware of a social media post around 11:15 a.m. showing a student with what appeared to be a firearm at the school at 4401 Elenda St., according to the Culver City Police Department.

Investigators responded to the school and located the weapon and found it was a BB gun, police said.

Officers determined there was no imminent threat and learned the student, a 17-year-old boy, was not at school. Detectives went to his house and met with him and one of his parents, "who were very cooperative," police said.

"The student was subsequently arrested and booked for possession of a firearm on school grounds," according to a police statement.

His custody status was not immediately available.
