17-Year-Old Shot In Santa Clara In 'Grave Condition;' Police Search For Shooting Suspect
Breaking: A Santa Clara police officer investigating possible fireworks instead found the San Jose teen suffering from a gunshot wound.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA -- A 17-year-old San Jose boy found inside a crashed vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound Wednesday night in Santa Clara remained hospitalized in grave condition Thursday, police said.
The shooting occurred at about 10:45 p.m. in the area of Brookdale and Bing drives, according to Santa Clara police Lt. Dan Moreno.
"A Santa Clara police officer was parked and monitoring traffic in the area, when he heard what he thought were fireworks going off in the vicinity," Moreno said. "The officer drove to the area of the noise and discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a parked car. The officer found that the driver of the crashed vehicle was suffering from a gunshot wound."

As officers searched the area for a suspect in the shooting, paramedics rushed the 17-year-old victim to a local hospital.
Moreno said officers were not able to locate a suspect.
