Yesterday while stopping in for a latte at my favorite coffee shop, Bellano Coffee on Stevens Creek, I picked up a postcard off one of their shelves. What attracted me is the very cool black and white photography. On further reading, the exhibit is called "Harmony" and features the works of four photographers inspired by Richard Dischler's pre-visualization workshops. Now what does that mean, "pre-visualization"? Well a quick scan of the internet provides a lot of information about Richard Dischler and his classes. Pre-visualization seems to be something about each photographer thinking about and planning the final image before they take it (pre-visualizing), and finding their own unique style and way of seeing things through the lens.
The images on the black postcard show strong range of contrast from nearly black to very light. Two of the four images are abstract enough that it draws your attention to keep looking to try and figure out what the photo is. They are beautiful photos. I think these represent art by people who study their craft very carefully and are very creative. So if you'd like to go check out these photos, they are at the Peking Duck Restaurant at 151 South California Avenue in Palo Alto, until June 6th. The exhibit features the art of photographers Ki Dang, Charles Dilisio, Charles Mujie, and Rober Spinti.
