On September 8 and 10 Bishop Margaret Vertue, Diocese of False Bay, Western Cape Town, South Africa, will visit St. Jude’s, Cupertino. Bishop Margaret is the second female bishop to be elected in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. Bishop Margaret and Wilma Jakobsen, Rector of St. Jude’s, Cupertino, were the first two women priests ordained by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, in the diocese of Cape Town, 22 years ago this month. You’re invited to meet her Monday, September 8, from 6:30 -8:30 pm at St. Jude’s Parish Hall for an informal reception. Through conversation and stories you can learn about her ministry in an extremely challenging diocese. On Wednesday, September 10, Bishop Margaret will preach at St. Jude’s noon Eucharist and stay for lunch. For more information, visit www.saintjudes.org.
