Cupertino's The Refuge: 'Good Sam' Church by Day, Source for Positive Outlets for Teens by Night.

Most are completely unaware of this local church, and what it is doing to give back to the youth community.

Claiming that, "music and self expression are gifts from God that should be celebrated," it is no surprise that the people involved in The Refuge would create a program that stresses the importance of using music as an outlet for self expression, and embrace those interested in pursuing musical careers. By allowing young musicians to perform at this community center, is not only providing
them with the experience they desire to pursue their dreams as an
artist, it allows them to invite all of their peers and gain profit for their talents.

Mike Barrera, founder of the booking company called Evolution, has taken a part in recruiting musicians to perform at The Refuge, as well as create an environment that allows teens to simply be themselves. Unlike PinUp Productions, another local company that is known for giving a percentage of all revenue earned a night to the band that brought the most people, Evolution gives bands a dollar per person, as well as accommodates to any of the band's needs. Many students are taking advantage of the experience, entertainment, and outlet these organizations are providing them with.
