Rotarians Spotted Around Cupertino

Rotary Club of Cupertino Past President, Steve Andrews, leads the monthly book club discussion of "Pillars of the Earth," by Ken Follett.

The Rotary Club of Cupertino has many fellowship groups, among them is the Book Club that meets once a month to tackle books of interest. This month was "Pillars of the Earth," Rotarian Steve Andrews lead the discussion. His focus was on the primary characters and how the group perceived them, ranging from nasty knight to the heroine entrepreneur.

The group agreed that Follett is a master at character development and consistent throughout the 1,000 pages.

Speaking of masters; Steve did an artful job of working up the question on each character and stimulating one of our longer discussions.

There are some very well read people in this group who add pointed comments and steer the conversation in interesting directions.

Pictured here from left to right are; Cookie, Wendell (sitting), Bill, Jagi, Judy (sitting), Stuart (new member), and Steve.  The lovely hand in the right bottom corner belongs to Elinore. Missing from the photo are Pam, Ann, Joe and myself.

The meetings are held at the YMCA and this month we had 12 attend.
