ā€œI extend my appreciation as Mayor of Cupertino to all of our veterans for your service to our country,ā€ said Mayor Paul. ā€œThank you for creating defensible space for American democracy to exist and to grow, and to allow us to have conversations that none of us without your service would have the privilege of having. This is a sacred right, and we should meet it by being honest with ourselves and with others, by respecting our fellow human beings as fellow human beings, and by remembering that the value of our freedoms must be constantly guarded not as value for opportunists but in service to our enduring mission to preserve and enhance opportunities and values. We honor your work and sacrifices daily.ā€

This year, the Veterans Memorial in Cupertino’s Memorial Park is under repair. The City is working together with the non-profit organization that oversees the Memorial to complete the work, and expects regular Veterans Day ceremonies to be conducted again in 2022.
