Contemporary Art in the South Bay area of Northern California

I'm so disappointed I missed the Open Studios event this year. I had actually marked up one of the yellow Open Studio catalogues with about a dozen or so contemporary artists whose work I really wanted to go out and see. Really I wanted to start buying and collecting contemporary art....but at least I wanted to go out and see it. I'm fairly new to this area, having moved from Houston about two years ago. I'm an aspiring artist and member of the Cupertino Fine Arts League. I think my genes must be wired for colors and shapes. I have always loved great art...It inspires me and makes me feel alive. They mystery in a painting compels me to find out more about it. When the art is executed well and succeeds in drawing out emotions, I am in awe. I could spend hours in a museum of Art, and I have at times. So even though I missed the Open Studios this year, and I really don't know much about the local art scene, I'm eager to start exploring and reporting on what I find out. If I don't have anything to report on locally, I might just pull out something I learned from a book on my shelf, or something I found on the internet about modern contemporary art. Will this be a big project for me? Will I continue and gain followers of like minded people? Or will other activities in my busy life take priority and divert me away? I make no promises but this topic excites me and I look forward to the challenge! - Todd
