County Updates Shelter-in-Place Order (Goes into Effect Friday, June 5)

Today, the Santa Clara County Public Health Department announced amendments to the Shelter-in-Place Order, which will allow multiple sectors and activities to resume this Friday, June 5. The Order remains in effect until the Health Officer rescinds it.

The updated Order:

  • Expands previously permitted business activity to include outdoor dining at restaurants and in-store shopping at retail locations.
  • Permits all children to take part in childcare, summer camps, summer school, or other educational and recreational programs, so long as groups are limited to 12 or fewer.
  • Allows outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people for religious services and cultural ceremonies.
  • Allows outdoor recreational activities that do not involve physical contact, such as swimming, to resume.
  • Permits car-based gatherings, including drive-in theaters.

Virtual Recreation Classes

The City's Parks & Recreation Department continues to work with instructors to bring you new recreational programs in a virtual classroom environment.

New classes include; camps from Little Medical School, and Communication Academy, educational classes from Communication Academy, music classes from Joyful Melodies, and Melody's Academy of Music, and Adult 50+ classes including Chair Exercise, Line Dancing Beginner and Intermediate, and Yoga for 50+.
