Cupertino High School Students help the Seniors in the Community

Cupertino High School FBLA's Project HEAL (Help, Educate, Advocate, Lead)

Project HEAL strives toward providing feasible solutions and relief for the struggles that the elderly face. They have teamed up with a local nursing home to supplement their services and contribute monetary and product-based donations to alleviate the need for entertainment and education they face in housing the growing number of seniors. Members of the Community Service Project committee volunteer every other week and form bonds and friendships with the seniors to educate and help the seniors with meaningful tasks. Additionally, the project plans various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money and supplies that the home is in need of. This allows for the nursing home to continue to provide valuable services and shelter for its inhabitants. In doing so, we hope to both raise awareness about the issues that plague senior citizens and ensure that the elderly are receiving the aid and services that they desperately need.

Project HEAL has overall made a tremendous impact on their community by improving the life of seniors in our community. Project HEAL clocked 104 hours in planning the partnership, volunteering events, fundraisers, and surveys. Project HEAL clocked 112 hours in preparing and executing the numerous volunteering events at Cupertino Healthcare and Wellness Center. Project HEAL clocked 45 hours in spreading awareness of their project. Project HEAL also recruited more than a 198 Cupertino High School students that have continuously supported the community service project this school year. With a grand total of 261 hours of work and support from more than a 198 students, Cupertino High School FBLA community service project was able to surpass expectations and help the seniors and rehabilitation patients in their community.
