Elderly Pedestrian Hit, Killed on S. Bascom Avenue
SJPD reports a utility truck struck the 90-year-old man.

The San Jose Police Department this morning is investigating a Tuesday fatal traffic collision.
Officers responded Tuesday at 5:43 p.m. to the area of South Bascom Avenue on a report of a vehicle that collided with a pedestrian. Police said the preliminary investigation revealed the 90-year-old man was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a utility truck traveling south on South Bascom Avenue.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with investigators. The San Jose Police Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the incident. Police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
