Former San Jose Police Commander Named Dixon's Chief Of Police

In his role with SJPD, Robert Millard commanded up to 120 officers and 18 sergeants.

DIXON, CA -- Robert Millard has been appointed Chief of the Dixon Police Department, City Manager Jim Lindley announced Friday.

The appointment is subject to a background check and successful contract negotiation.

Millard has 25 years of law enforcement experience including Divisional Area Commander of the San Jose Police Department where he commanded between eight and 18 sergeants and 70-120 officers.

Millard was among three finalists for the chief's position, Lindley said.

The candidates were interviewed by Lindley, the City Council and a panel of Dixon citizens at City Hall.

"Robert's range of experience and level of command is well suited to serve the City of Dixon," Mayor Jack Bachelor said.
