Gas Line Break Closed El Camino Real In Santa Clara

The Santa Clara Police Dept. evacuated the KFC and closed the major thoroughfare between Lafayette and Lincoln streets.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A gas line ruptured on El Camino Real at Monroe Street, prompting an emergency road closure Monday between Lafayette and Lincoln streets, the Santa Clara Police Department reported. It has since been reopened in the evening.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area as the Santa Clara Fire Department and Pacific Gas & Electric worked to fix the leak.

The nearby KFC was evacuated, with a shelter order put into place for the Madison Place apartment complex.
