Gilbert Wong Passes Constituency Group Title to Campbell's Evan Low
The Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials constituency group provides a forum to share ideas and develop leadership experience.

Cupertino City Councilman Gilbert Wong was on hand in Washington, D.C. for the National League of Cities conference to pass his title of president of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials to Campbell Vice Mayor Evan Low on March 10 and 11.
“He’s young, energetic and will help bring our organization to the next level,” Wong said of Low.
APAMO, established in 1985 serves as a vehicle for members to discuss problems, solutions, debate policy issues and contribute to the success of American cities and towns, according to a statement.

"I am delighted to lead and be part of a national organization that advocates for the best interests of local cities," Low said in an email. "The Asian Pacific American community is a growing population in the United States and I an committed to encouraging more participation among underrepresented communities."
Low represents the continuation of Silicon Valley elected official leadership with his appointment.

"I thank fellow Silicon Valley elected official Gilbert Wong for his work and for his dedication to municipal service," Low said.
Others elected to the leadership roles in the group this weekend include:
- First Vice President: Stephen K. Sham, Council Member, Alhambra, Calif.
- Second Vice President: Sue Chan, Council Member, Fremont, Calif.
- Treasurer: Madison Nguyen, Vice Mayor, San Jose, Calif.
