'Hackintoch' Computers Lose Legal Battle; iPhone 5 Release Next Week?

Controversies
The infamous "Hackintoch" computers may be having the last laugh. Psystar violated Apple’s copyright agreement with Mac OS, due to building non-Mac computers with Mac OS installed, the U.S. Court of Appeals ruled this week. This may be the final ruling for Psystar, which appealed Apple’s original decision against them in in January 2010.

A patent dispute between Apple and Samsung has stopped the sale of Apple products in around the world—but an exception could be made for Down Under. Lawyers for Samsung in Sydney have offered Apple a deal that would allow the Galaxy Tab 10.1 device to hit Australian shelves, even before the longstanding hearing between the two tech rivals is wrapped up.

New Products
The clocks on your iPhones are ticking: there’s only a couple business days left until Apple’s headquarters hosts an iPhone themed event Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. Some are anticipating that the much-awaited unveiling of the iPhone 5, along with new versions of the iPhone 4, will be made.

Want to rid your iPhone videos of the shakiness that occurs when you make movies on the go? Apple may have a new solution, useful for everyone except those seeking to mimic the Blair Witch Project. They just submitted a patent for a “Video Stabilization Solution,” which would remove the quivering through editing software.

Business Deals and Developments
Worldwide, Apple ranks in the top ten of desirable workplaces, according to a survey of 160,000 recent college grads. It was ranked number nine for business grads and number seven for engineering grads. Google, the only other Silicon Valley company on the list, trumped all with the reigning title of the world’s most desirable workplace.

Haló, iTunes: This week, Apple iTunes became available in the last of the 12 EU countries that previously lacked access, such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia and Croatia. Not surprisingly, iTunes are now the largest music retailer in the world with over 15 million downloads.
