Homeless Man Found Dead Behind South Bay Business

The body of a man who appeared to be homeless was discovered near a fence behind a business, police said.

SUNNYVALE, CA — The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered Monday behind a business. At about 12:22 p.m., Sunnyvale DPS was notified by a 911 caller of the body in the 800 block of E. Fremont Avenue, Capt. Shawn Ahearn said in a news release.

"DPS personnel responded to the location and found a deceased body of an adult male lying next to a fence," Ahearn said. "The male appeared to be homeless."

DPS detectives and personnel with the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy and will work to identify the man.
