Whether you are more tortoise than hare, Cupertino's Big Bunny Fun Run on Saturday will still accomplish its goal of getting the community together for a "lighthearted fun event," according to organizers.
Sponsored by the city's parks and recreation department and --a tutoring and test prep center--the event is intended to be just what its name says, fun, with a little fitness focus in there, too, says Jeff Ordway, recreation coordinator and event organizer.
The run brings out the occasional serious runner, but it's mostly families and a lot of kids for the run and the walk, Ordway says.

The requisite bunny will be hopping around and "sometimes people have bunny ears on, too," Ordway says.
The course is set for the neighborhood surrounding the Civic Center where the run begins at 9 a.m. Registration fees begin at $11 before April 21 and increase to $15 on race day for the kids run, and $25 for the 5K for adults before April 21 and $45 on race day. Families of two adults and two children under 18 can get in for $65 before race day and $115 on race day.

The fee includes a T-shirt, water bottle and raffle ticket.
Look for Ordway on race day--now in his fifth year as the organizer of the event--who will be running around working to make sure everyone is enjoying the day.
"I run a 5K that day, just not the course," he says.
