Man Steals Booze, Threatens To Shoot Trader Joe's Security Guard: Police
A suspect from East Palo Alto was arrested for the incident at the Peninsula store.

A man stealing alcohol from a Trader Joeās store in Menlo Park on Monday afternoon threatened to shoot a store security guard, according to police.
Police were advised at 3:46 p.m. of a robbery in progress at the Trader Joeās at 720 Menlo Ave. A suspect had been trying to steal alcohol and when approached by a store security guard, threatened to shoot him before fleeing the store, police said.
Police eventually arrested Melvin Williams, 56, of East Palo Alto, on suspicion of the robbery. Police said Williams is also suspected of an earlier robbery of a Home Depot in East Palo Alto.

Police did not find a weapon. Williams was booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of robbery, assault, threats and resisting arrest, police said.
