Residents Displaced in Sunnyvale House Fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious, authorities said.

A fire at a Sunnyvale home displaced its residents Sunday afternoon, a Department of Public Safety captain said Monday.

Firefighters responded to a call for a smoke investigation in the 800 block of Hollenbeck Avenue just north of Harvard Avenue around 3:30 p.m., Capt. Shawn Ahearn said.

The first crew to arrived on the scene saw flames coming out of a front window at a home, Ahearn said.

The fire was out in about 30 minutes and contained to where it started. It resulted in smoke damage throughout the home, the captain said.

Residents inside the home when the fire broke out were able to escape and are staying with family members, Ahearn said.

No injuries were reported.
