Sharks to Hit the Ice Sunday

The San Jose Sharks first practice session of the season is open to the public in San Jose.

 

The hockey drought in San Jose is almost over.

Just a day after the end of the National Hockey League lockout, the San Jose Sharks will hit the ice at 1:30 p.m. today in a practice session at Sharks Ice, 1500 S. Tenth St., San Jose.

And the public is invited to watch.

Because space is limited, spectators should plan on arriving early. Fans should go to the South Rink and head for the bleachers. All spectators must agree to follow the Sharks Practice Rules or face ejection from the facility.

Admission is free.

The 113-day lockout came to an end Saturday when The National Hockey League and its players inked a deal for an abbreviated 48-game season. The Sharks will open their season in Calgary when they take on the Calgary Flames on Sunday, Jan. 20. Their first home game will be Thursday, Jan. 24 against the Phoenix Coyotes at the Shark Tank in San Jose.
