T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods Combo Store Opens April 26

Longer than normal store hours—8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 26—give shoppers more time to peruse the new Crossroads' digs.

Little fanfare other than a ribbon cutting ceremony and extended hours on April 26 marks the grand opening for the new T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods combo stores at Cupertino Crossroads.

The new combo store on the former site of Mervyn’s—which closed in late 2008—replaces the T.J. Maxx on Homestead Road and De Anza Boulevard, which will close “sometime in mid-April,” according to Doreen Thompson, a company spokesperson.

"The store will reopen on April 26th as part of a T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods combo store. Our decision to relocate this store aligns with our ongoing reassessment of real estate,” she said.

The Homestead Square shopping center at Homestead Road and De Anza Boulevard is already undergoing a major facelift with the new under construction with an expected completion date this fall.

The combo store has separate entrances and a common pass-through inside.

T.J. Maxx expects 10,000 pieces of new merchandise—designer fashions such as ladies and men’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, luggage and other bags—to arrive weekly. HomeGoods sells high-quality home fashions at discounted prices of between 20 to 60 percent off of department or specialty store regular prices, the company said.

Both stores are still hiring sales associates—a total of about 120 various positions will be filled—and those currently working at the Homestead Road location will be given the opportunity to work at the new T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods combo store, Thompson said.

Grand Opening hours for both locations are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and regular store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
