Vigil Set Tonight At Peninsula Church For Victims Of Oregon Shooting

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Congregational Church of San Mateo.

A group advocating for the prevention of gun violence is holding a vigil this evening in San Mateo to support the families and friends of the multiple people who died in Thursday’s shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, group leaders said.

Members of the San Mateo County chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence will hold the vigil starting at 6 p.m. at the Congregational Church of San Mateo at 225 Tilton Ave., chapter leaders said.

Members are asking the public to join them to grieve the loss of lives in what they say is the 45th shooting this year at a school, according to chapter leaders.
