3 Candidates Vie For 2 Danville Town Council Seats

DANVILLE, CA — Three candidates have filed paperwork to run for two at-large seats on the Danville Town Council - one currently occupied by Robert Storer, and the other open after Karen Stepper announced she would not run again. The nomination filing period was extended to Wednesday, Aug. 12. As of Friday, Aug. 14, the three candidates are Denton Carlson, Robert Storer, and Pratima Sonavne.

Denton Carlson: Denton Carlson is a 15-year Danville resident who retired in December 2025 as the San Ramon Police Chief. Before that, he served a wide range of law enforcement roles, including as Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office deputy, a SWAT team commander, and a detective. He currently sits on numerous boards, including the California Police Chiefs Association and the San Ramon Regional Medical Center.

Carlson said his campaign is focused on public safety, fiscal responsibility, well-managed growth, enhanced government efficiency, and policies that promote a strong economy and a well-preserved downtown.

Robert Storer: Incumbent Robert Storer is a 37-year Danville resident who has been on the Danville Town Council since 2009, and served three terms as mayors. He has also served on a number of different boards and committees, including the town’s Finance Committee, the council liaison to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, the All Wars Memorial Board, and the Honorary Sheriff’s Association of Alameda County.

Storer listed public safety, maintaining a balanced budget, supporting open space, and supporting local schools and businesses as some of his top priorities.

Pratima Sonavne: Pratima is a Danville resident who founded the Kurious Kids childcare center. She also holds a masters in Human Resource Management. She ran in June for Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder, and her campaign website remained focused on that race as of Friday. Patch attempted to Sonavne at two publicly listed email addresses, but messages to both addresses were returned as undeliverable.
